Codex is our metadata repository / API. We use it to access metadata very efficiently for calculating and displaying recommendations. Metadata for multiple type of content (programs, audio and video episodes, articles and more) can easily be stored and updated. Additional data like transcripts or extracted topics can also be stored.

This is quite a handy tool if your organisation is dealing with multiple systems and APIs, if the API is not to be accessed too frequently, or if data on a particular resource needs to be retrieved and consolidated from multiple sources. Processing audios to automatically create transcripts is often done outside of the main system and stored on the side. Codex conveniently enables their storage and usage in recommendations, increasing the discoverability and value of your media archives.
